There are many things to do along lakefront year-round, but things really heat up in the summer! The S/V Denis Sullivan is a 137-ft three masted top sail schooner that sets sail twice a day during season and stands as flagship for the United Nations Environment Program. The War Memorial Center provides stunning view of the lake while standing as a memorial to those who died in WWII. Veterans Park is also a favorite kite-flying venue and home to Gift of Wings.
The Milwaukee County Park system includes golf courses, park concerts, swimming pools and the famous Milwaukee Domes. Boerner Botanical Gardens is reminiscent of an English country manor with self-guided tours, docent-guided tours for groups. The Schlitz Audubon Nature Center is a 185-acre urban green area with six miles of hiking trails, beachfront and a 60-ft observation tower. Wisconsin’s only urban State Park is accessible via a jogging and walking path nearby the Summerfest grounds and leading towards Discovery World at Lakeshore State Park.
